It's a proud day to be a Kiwi! 129 years ago today, Aotearoa became the first country in the world to grant all women the right to vote. It took more than 30 years for the UK and America to join us.

How interesting - are you part of the 70,000 that signed the petition to change NZ's name back to Aotearoa? It's a really worthwhile move. Niw I wish I knew how to properly say "Aotearoa".
@Yulianna Certainly if we become a Republic a new Flag would be required. The current one is based on the UK Naval Blue Ensign, mind you so is Australia's. A referendum to change the Flag was narrowly lost some years ago. That was a Flag change only like Canada did and keeping the current Head of State. The Māori do have a couple of Flags but unlike the Australian Aboriginal Flag has no official status.
