Just a thought... [I Got Something To Say]

If everyone defended basic human rights as vehemently as they defend their political and/or religious views the world would be a much better place

The problem is that if you do defend basic human rights certain political parties demonize you as a communist who wants to usher in the evil NWO.

Unfortunately basic human rights is a political and religious issue. For example there are sects of certain eastern religions (Hinduism is what I am thinking of but I am ignorant on a lot of eastern theology) that believe people born into misery deserve it because of past life transgressions.

@Doomflower I disagree, I know that religion has not only allowed but promoted people to believe that some lives are worth more than others. But that's the whole point.
Someone who looks at the bible and reads, that working on the sabbath gets you killed and dismisses it also has to do the same when it says that a man shall not lay with another man as with a woman.
Basic human rights should not subject to religious beliefs, because they are universal as opposed to said beliefs.

@EuphoricTurtle I was describing things as they are, not how they ought to be.

@Doomflower ah, my mistake. Sorry
