They don't understand.

My boyfriend has sent me many job leads and he tells me that something should come up. But I don't think he realizes how the job market is at the moment. It's not that I'm not trying it's just nothing is even coming up for me no matter how many applications I send out I also hear people having this issue as well. I have applied to so many places and I have gotten nothing. I have explained this issue before to people but I guess they don't believe me.

Absolutely agree with you. The job market at the moment is beyond fucked. Between the chaos in the US, the war in Ukraine, Brexit, and AI, there is just so so much uncertainty and companies are extremely fearful of any expansion at the moment. So they are only hiring internally or very sporadically and gingerly.

@Sandcastler I feel like they just play with people and aren't even hiring.

@disturbedchicken I assume most companies have a policy to post job advertisements for open positions even when they know they will almost definitely fill the position with an internal candidate. Where are you based btw?

@Sandcastler Hmm, maybe so. I'm in California but I live in a small city with not much going on.

@disturbedchicken Yeah that's tough. I'm in Edinburgh and basically the only realistic options for jobs currently are in London. Are you in tech? I heard a lot of the California tech industry is shifting to Texas

@Sandcastler No, I've worked many customer service jobs but nowadays they do 3+ round of interviews for minimum wage and they don't end up giving you an offer. That's why I think they're just playing with people. I'm hearing the same issue from others as well.

@disturbedchicken Oh yeah damn I bet customer service work has gotten really difficult to get since AI got involved. Do you have experience in sales? Might be an idea to pivot to sales/outreach since that's way harder to automate

@Sandcastler I have somewhat. They usually never turn anyone down but what I dislike about most sales jobs in California is that they are commission based.
