We often find ourselves risking trust even after it has been shattered due to several intertwined psychological and social factors. Trust is a fundamental aspect of human relationships, and its loss can lead to significant emotional turmoil. However, the desire to rebuild connections and the hope for positive experiences can drive individuals to take the risk again.

This why we keep going back trusting our government, even though back in our minds we know that government is going to steal that trust and fuck us over. Just look at what the Nazi government did to the Jews for an example.

Humans are inherently optimistic. The belief that people can change and that relationships can improve often drives individuals to take risks with trust. This hope can be a double edged sword; while it can lead to renewed connections, it can also result in repeated disappointments.

Finally, the fundamental human need for connection and belonging can outweigh the fear of being hurt again.

Loneliness can be a powerful motivator, pushing individuals to seek out relationships, even if they come with the risk of betrayal. The desire for companionship often leads us to take chances on trust, hoping for a more positive outcome.
