How easily can people be tagged "troll" and what reasons will be used?
DylanGuy · 22-25, M
for me it's someone who seeks to antagonize or start arguments online for their own amusement.
DiliMarky · M
@DylanGuy It's annoying when people do this
DylanGuy · 22-25, M
@DiliMarky It's kind of the point.

It's subjective and biased. Seems like just another popular label to toss around.

Originally it was
one who posts inflammatory, insincere, digressive, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community
But isn't it still subjective?
SW-User
@Magenta I agree about it being another popular label.
TexChik · F
people who post here only to stir up trouble with controversial statements via their political or sexual agenda.
Lilymoon · F
An idiot with no sense of humor and no life.
DiliMarky · M

Troll: In Internet slang, a troll is a person who posts inflammatory, insincere, digressive,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as social media, a newsgroup, forum, chat room, online video game, or blog), with the intent of provoking readers into displaying emotional responses,[2] or manipulating others' perception. This is typically for the troll's amusement, or to achieve a specific result such as disrupting a rival's online activities or manipulating a political process. Even so, Internet trolling can also be defined as purposefully causing confusion or harm to other users online, for no reason at all.

Using that definition, most of us have probably been at least trollish at some point.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
It is easy to be hated by liars.

I guess my definition would be if your only reason to be here is to spread lies and cause divisions for some amusement of your own than you are a troll.
SW-User
Anyone can troll but to be defined as a troll suggests that it's your main purpose is trolling and that you do it repeatedly. Trolling is deliberately antagonising people to prompt a negative reaction, because you get off on being in control of people's emotions.
SW-User
@SW-User So, intent plays a major part?
SW-User
@SW-User Yes, you can't troll by accident or it's not trolling. When you troll you know what you're doing.

another label that's lost all meaning because everyone's made their own definition
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
Other— the definition of an internet troll I associate with being accurate—. “ an account set up and utilized to create anger by interaction with other accounts “. Basic, but generally true in my opinion.
SW-User
A person that acts like a vigilante against people their friends don’t like.

@SW-User LOL It wouldn't be so bad if they were right. Worst thing people do here is fling false accusations about other users that cause major upset.

@RogueLoner Ahahahaha! Too funny! lol
Yep...seems like certain people think it's trolling to tell how you feel or see things.... or even because of a phrase you use. I should just start posting "too funny" to everything! lol
