when did Sundays stop being traditional

here in the uk, long ago sundays was a traditional day of rest...shops were shut, we had sunday church services, sunday mass, and it was an all round peaceful relaxing day...my favourite day was always a sunday....now it has all changed...and the old traditional ways have faded and are slowly disappearing all together.

why is this and what is the cause of this?

Greed in the 80s!!
When shops started opening illegally on Sunday and then pushed for it to be legal.
Just think how better it would be for the environment if all that fuel to heat and light the shops wasn't being used , and all the less traffic!
And yes it would be a much more peaceful relaxing day, and families could spend time together instead of many having to work

Church congregations went into free fall, and people couldn’t see a reason for a day where they could earn more or go out and do things.
