Yes nightshade, to have a traditional relationship (Bible or otherwise) takes a LOT of communication, boundaries and humility. Being able to admit when one's wrong or to work together can be very humbling.

Lots of people still live like this, but often times it covers up abuse -- and I don't say that to put down "the lifestyle," I say it because it's a harsh truth and it needs to be rooted out when it's discovered (by both those living by the Bible and those who are not).
You can have a relationship that is BOTH an equal partnership and a Biblical one, but it's rare, and it's entirely dependent on mutual trust, mutual respect, and shared goals. You can't have a woman who only wants this position because she NEEDS to be told what to do or she feels she is less of a person, and you can't have a man who wants this position because they need to be unquestioned and in absolute control at all times.
Most of the time, when I see men openly advertising that they want this kind of a relationship, they use certain words like "alpha male" and "master of the house." These are absolute red flags for a man that is probably going to be abusive, or make decisions without any consideration for his wife's input, feelings, or well-being.

Do people still honestly live like this? Just read that biblical marriages are still like this and that certainly makes me happy I am not at all religious..
Marriage to me is about equal partnership not being someone's slave

Plum, not many people can understand. It's ok.

That is an excellent point. Husbands are called upon to love their wives as they love Christ and to treat her with the utmost care and respect. It goes far beyond simple male dominance.

The Bible says to stone your wife to death if she gets raped but okay lol
