Argh yes I hate it when people don't smile back. 😒 Ngl I feel a bit embarrassed.
I don't smile at men. Just at women. Sometimes a slight nod to confirm that the smile is a greeting. Mostly people will not reciprocate where I live as people in general here don't believe in social gestures without a motive. I might seem suspicious to them.
Some are genuinely awkward and uncomfortable and will look away, which I understand and don't mind.
But most just stare elevator eyed and lock eyes and glare, and don't smile back. It's so rude. Like the fact that they will take their time to scan and analyze your clothes and shoes and hair and lock eyes means they're not shy.
Such people are just looking to assert dominance/troll. Maybe because they're insecure.
Smiling at men, though, is only inviting harassment in my town.
