I Smile At Strangers

I'm sitting in the airport at Gatwick waiting to get on my flight home to Bergamo, Italy. I left my friends' home in Bermondsey, near Tower Bridge earlier and I took the Tube, Jubilee Line, to Green Park and changed for one stop on the Victoria Line, to Victoria.

I have one roll along suitcase which is costing me a little extra in the hold of my easyJet flight to Milano. I managed to get a seat on the train at Bermondsey which surprised me, and I stayed sitting with my suitcase under my legs in a way that almost pulled me off the seat. There was a guy sitting opposite me until we got to Westminster station who kept looking over at me. I'm wearing a black PVC skater dress and chunky soled shoes. He was suitably suited to be a civil servant or something.

(My dress from its catalogue photo)

At Victoria I got a coffee from a stand under the travel boards before the platform for my train to Gatwick was put up. It wasn't too bad a walk to ensure I got the train but there were throngs of people in the station, commuters on their way to work.

Now, I'm waiting for my airplane gate to be announced, my baggage is already checked in for the flight, and I have just about an hour before departure is scheduled to be. There are delays on a couple of flights, I hope it's not my flight that will be impacted upon.
