It is likely because the need to think for ourselves is becoming less and less in the technological age.

STUDENTS are no longer thinking for themselves. That is why so many stink at math and spelling and English, which is none "to goodly." It needs to be "much more betterer" I have even seen textbook examples in people's writhing right here on SW!!!!
