SW-User
And how do you define "wrong" and "right"?

@SW-User 👀
Do you think morality is nonexistent and it's rather an agreed upon set of values?
Do you think morality is nonexistent and it's rather an agreed upon set of values?

SW-User
@SW-User For the most part, yes! I think that's what it is! 🤔 What else would it be?

SW-User
@SW-User well, I think morality is partly innate for at least a few things 👀
Don't you think it's an observable phenomenon?
Don't you think it's an observable phenomenon?

SW-User
@SW-User So, you mean it's rather based on instincts? 🤔
Idk man.. I think many bad manners are also based on instincts!🤔

SW-User
@SW-User precisely my point. Our desires are good for us but taken too far incite corruptions of character sometimes. An example would be taking care of our bodies 🤔
We eat food because we want to survive but why do we choose to eat healthy? It's because eating toxic or unhealthy foods are bad for us and we do not want to harm ourselves because self-harm is wrong, unanimously, right? 👀
When addressing hunger and overextending, hunger can indirectly have incited gluttony/greed which people typically consider a bad thing 🤷🏾♂️
I dunno about everyone's morals but logic dictates that we also do the same with fear of injuries and other things

SW-User
@SW-User I mean some hormones and genetic memories can inspire/suggest some actions and suggest avoiding other actions.. but these are mostly about survival and are a very primitive thing... I don't think it can define "right" or "wrong" or anything like that...

SW-User
@SW-User well, maybe for physically driven desires 🤔
But how about not bearing offspring with your own mother? Why do we know that it's wrong?
But how about not bearing offspring with your own mother? Why do we know that it's wrong?

SW-User
@SW-User Because it's biologically wrong! 🤷♂️

SW-User
@SW-User well, how do you know this simply 100 years ago? Or 200? Let alone over a thousand. People still said it is wrong, then 👀

SW-User
@SW-User I mean I think it's the same as how you know that you have to eat and mate... it's just your body telling you what you better do so we don't go extinct.. but that's probably the only goal of our instincts. Not going extinct.
While if you wanna achieve something more important, you'd have to decide in your own way rather than using your basic built-in decision making system...

SW-User
@SW-User that's very true 🤔
Does it seem odd that we have such a fitting tool for making decisions?

SW-User
@SW-User instincts? 🤔 Idk, it's in all animals!
But well, the existence of life, generally is very odd I think

SW-User
@SW-User tell me what you think is behind this whole existence 🤔
Cuz I personally can't help but think there is a baseline for everything
Cuz I personally can't help but think there is a baseline for everything

SW-User
@SW-User I just don't know. Probably the only thing I believe in is possibilities. It's all just possibilities until something can truly clear all doubts

SW-User
@SW-User very fair 🤔
So, what are some fundamental phenomenon you have found to be relatively consistent?
So, what are some fundamental phenomenon you have found to be relatively consistent?

SW-User
@SW-User Do you mean like, anything that I don't really have to think of it as possibilities but rather facts? Like most branches of science?

SW-User
@SW-User well, I guess you could say that. Tendencies, per say 🤷🏾♂️
Tendencies of human beings
Tendencies of human beings

SW-User
@SW-User Sorry I think I lost the context! 😅
We're talking about human behaviour now, right? 🤔
Such a complicated subject!😂

SW-User
@SW-User tendencies in choices reflect our morality, right? 😅
That's why we do what we do. If people naturally tend to behave a certain way, it might give way to an innate standard

SW-User
@SW-User Idk I usually care more to understand people's motives rather than simply considering that same action are "right" other actions are "wrong" and whoever does it is "bad"...
I think it's not that simple! most of these definitions of "right" and "wrong" are merely based on what our ancestors think, and it can be very subjective as it's not the same from culture to another or from generation to another...

SW-User
@SW-User well, we can't get anywhere without a foundation 🤔
So, what is something you consider wrong to do? Something that if the whole WORLD normalized and asked you to do, you still wouldn't do it

SW-User
@SW-User Now that's a very specific question! 👍️
🤔 I think that should be anything that inflicts any kind harm or suffering on others, where "others" implies everyone...

SW-User
@SW-User okay, give me something else ._.
Like, is cutting your arm wrong if you like to feel the pain?
Like, is cutting your arm wrong if you like to feel the pain?

SW-User
@SW-User umm 🤔 I think hurting yourself can cause suffering for others as well

SW-User
@SW-User okay, regardless of others ._.
Is cutting yourself ALONE, away from all view and knowledge a morally bad thing?
