I Like People Who Say What They Mean And Mean What They Say

Why Is This So Hard For People To Do?... this is absolutely one of my worst pet peeves..are people afraid to take a stand?  Are they afraid to own their own opinion? Are they afraid of rejection or what?  well this is what I need

Speak in clear and concise language...
skip the drama and the rhetoric
Stop the 5000 words when 50 will do.
Use action verbs and a subject like I want, I think, I need
so what if I don't agree?  You are entitled to your opinion and I mine
don't leave me guessing to fill in the blanks.  I guarantee you I will interpret what you say to my advantage and it is probably going to be wrong.
Dont' be so ambiguous I am left guessing to the real intention
Don't let me stumble around, groping in the dark only to realize I am dead wrong
I speak English, clear and concise language.  i go straight to the topic and keep on the subject.

Ask anyone who knows me..they don't ask for my opinion or advice unless they want hard facts.  i give my opinion and then back it up with reasons..I don't beat around the bush but I also don't butt in without being asked.

I was talking to my friend yesterday, telling her about a situation.  I ended it with "I didn't make this up"  She said "you are one of the straightest shooters, I know and I know it is true...a true compliment to our friendship.

When I 1st moved to England, I quickly learned that this was em<x>bedded in the culture, only they like to call it "understatement". It seemed as if challenging anything that someone believed was seen as a challenge to something fundamental to the worth of that person. It was as if to say that if they had got something wrong, this suggested that their whole perceptive & reasoning apparatus was flawed. In Ireland however, this was not necessarily the case, forthright statements using personal pronouns were the norm, & energetic exchanges were not seen as offensive. Indeed, I have experienced such sessions, after which my opponent would thank me for a very stimulating evening!. I have some friends who honeymooned in Ireland, observing that heated didcussions in pubs didnt seem to bother anyone, whereas over here, the same scene would probably have seen the participants ejected as potential troublemakers.
I suspect that verbosity is about making room for later manoeuvre as much as hoping they may hit on what they think you want to hear,.I agree with you that people are probably afraid of rejection, but also, that they do not have the courage of their convictions, because the education system has undermined the idea of ob<x>jective truth, consequently, most opinions are feelings or reactions rather than tried & reasoned conclusions. Anything contrary to this is labeled "intolerant", ironically so because by definition, we tolerate that with which we disagree.
I like to sum up my own position by saying that being irish means I can get on exceptionally well with people I fundamentally oppose!!!

Must I reall tell you flat out what I want?I think that you know what I want. getting straight to the point all of the time may not work in certian circumstances. beating around the bush(LOL) and round abouts is sometimes better.
