Is it that people have grown somewhat intolerant to diversity nowadays, despite we're fighting for the rights of all and of all differences

But somehow it feels people have grown entitled and they are like, nah, when they see the first trouble or difference, like we turned up the volume on talking about embracing diversity and we kind of in actuality became less forgiving?

Or maybe I am still young to be able to see what was happening few decades back? Maybe it is my impression?

People have always been intolerant here. There has been legal systemic racism in the United States since its inception.

The mid to late 20th century had been mostly devoted to trying to right those wrongs, but slowly, and 50 years was hardly enough time to address close to 300 years of grievances.

But those who were used to privilege began to see attempts to establish equity as their oppression and longed for a return to days with a caste system.

The election of a black president, who was well-liked by both many here and many of our allies also brought those people out of the shadows with the Tea Party (precursor to MAGA and Donald Trump).

Trump used that simmering racism to gain power and made people comfortable expressing those attitudes openly again.
