Problem is you likely have consented to it. Try turning off java scripting and see what sites you actually get access to.
I don't know of a site that will allow you to turn javascripting off and therefore cookies.
For cookies to work, javascrpting must be turned on.
My problem is the sites that insist on signing up. To me that's worse. You can clear cookies. You can't clear your email address from their database.

I meant I don't directly consent. I never sign up. @DeWayfarer

Websites are forcing cookies on us. We have no say but I won't consent. @DeWayfarer

@Spoiledbrat most websites do have a cookie "tracking" policy yet it's not mandatory.
What I am saying is cookie's are apart of javascripting. So it can't be made mandatory. Everything now days uses JavaScripting.
To make it mandatory you have to break all websites. As far as I know, no normal website doesn't use JavaScript.
Cookies often are used legitimately in most websites. Yet tracking through cookies is a different matter.
Now if you go to the darkweb that's different.
Most of those darkweb sites actually warn you to turn JavaScripting off and therefore no cookies. Some even go so far as not letting you see any content or worse attempt to hack your browser.
The darkweb is a different world. In fact there are no real "official" standards on the darkweb like the W3C, ECMA or ISO and other international internet organizations.
When you go onto any normal website they need to store certain things about your browser, language, screen size, computer or cellphone and so forth so they must set a cookie. It's all done through JavaScript.
The dark web assumes everyone is using a computer, 80 columns, English and browser information is irrelevant since they don't need to know what type of javascripting.
Like Foxfire's JavaScript is slightly different than say Chrome's JavaScript or Opera's, Dolphins, Duckduckgo's or Braves browsers.
The list is endless really yet that's only a few examples of why cookies are necessary.
Cookies are not just for tracking. Though it's often used for that.

I agree. 😔 And the trackers. Google seems to track everyone. Don't know if that's the same as cookies or not? 🤔

No one needs to know what I do.
