Why do people respond to posts with “okay”?

What does that mean? Are you speechless? Confounded? Is it code for a more meaningful response you don’t have time to write?

It's a way to say they don't care and you're not worth their time to give you a longer reply. There's also kk or K to make it even more obvious. You're just not worth even that "O" in it.

No, seriously, the only people I've heard it using are my brother and his gf (yes, heard because they use it in speech) and they use it with gusto and in abundance, naturally, as how they could miss an opportunity to not adopt a way to casually use something that they know is insulting and irritating to a large part of population.
