Why does "I'm not looking to buy a house right now" seem to cause offence with people who just bought a house

@NeuroticByNature yeah I think so. Its a strange investment opportunity when peeps seem compelled to tell everyone about it rather than keep that magic secret to themselves. And I can't keep count of the number of times someone has told me it only makes sense to get the biggest mortgage you can, then tell me in the same conversation they are effectively broke keeping up with the payments. This whole thing just smells like the dumbest business a person can go into
