A rant I guess
Today I was standing on bus and I felt someone tapping my back with their fingers. I of course looked behind me to see it was some grandma. She smiled at me and I smiled back because what do I know, and she didn't say anything at all. I turned back and then felt her touch my hair. She did it for the entire ride, not saying anything at all, and even went to stand besides me (though she got out at the same stop I did, and we were just about to get there). When I got out and told my friend and she commented how creepy and weird it is, and even my parents did too telling me to walk away if I can or move my hair in cases like those. What took me aback though, was when I told another friend and they were like ,,Aww so sweet" and when I expressed how uncomfortable that made me feel they just said stuff like, ,,Well I'm sure she didn't have bad intentions". Like, it doesn't matter what her intentions were, it's not okay at all, it's creepy and weird, and naturally I'm going to feel uncomfortable and good intentions won't change me feeling uncomfortable about someone touching me without my permission for a while.
What I like about my parent's comment was how grandmas like those see hair they like (mine is long and thick) and think they're entitled to touch it, how it's still weird and uncomfortable. That they're type who tocuh breads in bakeries. But for some reason this person wants to convince me that I shouldn't feel uncomfortable because her intentions MAY have been good (which we don't even know). It's strange because they usually act normally when we talk about someone being touched without permission, but for some reason now feeling weird about this isn't valid.
