There's always one two in a worlplace that do that. You hear them talking about an event or something, and then "conveniently" they are sick on that day.

@OogieBoogie My other workmates and managers are definitely taking note too. She's numbering her own days at this rate, I think

@caPnAhab yeah.
I think they get comfortable, do it a few times... .then they get cocky with it.
We had one like that. Got to the point she was taking an afternoon or two off a week. (Afternoons are when we work the hardest).
It annoyed us, but luckily the boss was noticing.
I get people need time off for stuff, but geez ...some just milk it and make everyone else work harder😠

@OogieBoogie It comes down to a poor work ethic in this case I think. This person thinks she's not of great help. Not true because at least doing anything is better than doing nothing
But I wonder if she's under the mindset that she may as well shut down completely if she can't keep up.
But I keep saying just do your best and no one will be mad. No need to stress out so much. It doesn't seem to stick really

@caPnAhab ugh.. .thats a fair bit of emotional energy there.
I mean, i feel sorry for people who feel like that, but ....really... they kinda just gotta grow up.
None of us started out brilliant at our job. We all had to learn from others to get better.

@OogieBoogie yeah.. I feel kind of bad but I agree

@caPnAhab oh i feel bad too when you have one of those people.
Thing is....(im only learning NOW), how much they can drain you.
- you know....like a dripping tap : it doesnt seem much a the time, but when its every day, bit by bit - all that energy put out to someone, that never changes anything....it kinda drags you down a bit.
And when we have our own shit to deal with, that energy is a valuable resource.
I know it sounds mean, but we gotta look after ourselves as well .

@OogieBoogie yeah, I feel like I'm babysitting when I have food to make. I have trouble splitting my attention as it is already
