Just a rant.

So the last time I went out I was very displeased with the service from the waitress. If it was up to me I honestly would not have tipped her at all and that's very harsh on me to say because the service was very poor especially in a big establishment of Millers. I've seen her before when I went there previously but I never had her as my waitress. But when we ordered drinks last time she forgot my drink. And then when she gave us our food she got my significant other his silverware but didn't bring mine. And she waited over 5 minutes to give me my fork and by then my food was cold. And I was watching her too she didn't have any other tables to go to she went directly to the computer pulled out her tips and started counting it and didn't even bother to go to the kitchen to get me the silverware. So i was very bothered when I saw this. Now do you think I'm wrong in this situation for feeling the way I did. Because to me after we ordered food we ordered dessert which is our favorite donuts with chocolate. And they were burnt but we were kind and just said we like them but they were not good at all. I'm wondering if this was done purposely. And our donuts took over 45 minutes to get dessert.
So I'm wondering if she told them crispy. Because they were burned. Whichh was odd for 45 wait. It wasn't a busy day either so I'm contemplating ever going back again.

I wouldn’t tip with such bad service. I’m quick to compliment good service and good food, but I don’t hold back on complaining if it’s bad. I would have sent the dessert back.

You are right about being unhappy with such poor service but you should have addressed this with your server and management at the time

we went to IHOP month before last and the service was horrible. Someone said it might be because there aren’t enough people wanting to work in service jobs. Could be and someone told me later that most of the kitchen staff looked like druggies. There is a meth camp that is about a half-mile away and it wouldn’t surprise me.

@cherokeepatti yes we went to IHOP about a month ago as well and when we were done with the food the waitress stood there and said and this line is for me and she kept her finger on the line as my significant other was signing it and I just felt that she was pushing it lmao lol

@ScarletWitch omg. That's crazy.

@ScarletWitch She made you sign something??? Wow. I never got my food that I order, while the others got waffles and appetizers. The waiter said he told me that they were out of salad. I told him no he didn’t. I sat there and watched them eat and then we asked where the salads was and he said that. I got up to walk out because I had enough waiting and smelling the appetizers (they used old grease) was gross. He tells me “I can’t let you leave without paying.” I told him I never got any food and he argues he told me that there was no salad. After I went to the car to wait I heard that they overheard the people back in the kitchen asking him why he lied etc.
I’ve heard that the IHOP chain got sold to another group and maybe that this is the group not being able to run the chain.
Not at all. It's her job to serve you and make you feel welcome. If she didn't do that, I wouldn't tip her.

nah sounds like you have every right to be annoyed over that.
Speaking from someone who was a chef in a restaurant, I can tell ya that some waitresses or waiters purposely alter the orders if they dont like someone.
Not only is it a pain in the ass to the customers for sure but also those preparing the food because it slows things down when complained about as most people do.
If that waitress did that, she should be let go.
the least is getting no tip

The best way to respond to poor service is to vote with your feet. Don't go back there.

I'm so fed up with eating out. The service is getting worse.
Applepiedom · 56-60, M
Service in most places suck. Staff needs to understand it a service industry. You actually have to be nice to get money.
Also understand that I work for the money that I'm giving you. I expect to be treated well

Ive run into things like this, if its a place i go often ill let them know i dont want in her/his section.
That sounds like a perfectly valid way to feel.

Usually this sort of belligerent behaviour is inspired by envy. I bet you are significantly more attractive than this problematic staff member.
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@MsBellows True. And, sometimes people are just that terrible at doing their job.
perceptivei · 36-40, F
That's terrible that she went to count her tips before getting your fork.
MsBellows · 61-69, F
@perceptivei Yes it was.

You should send the manager this..👍
