I Need to Rant

In the 1990s if you wanted to print a 1 page text document, you'd hit print and after about 30 seconds of machine gun sounds and screeching you'd have the paper in your hand.
Just now I sent a 1 page text doc to my "modern" "all in 1" printer using Windows 10 and it took.... 7 minutes.
7 F'ing minutes to print a prescription prepay cert. What the cluck?

Progress?

how often do you print? it might have been spending time cleaning the ink heads. and how old is this printer? old school, impact, dot matrix printers were tanks. ink jets are flimsy little butterflies in comparison.
@stound I don't use it that often so that might be the reason. It's an Epson L355 so it's not that old but maybe planned obsolesence is coming into play?
@FairyGirlGemma possibly. you might get a little more life out of it if you schedule and do a print on a more regular basis (like maybe once a week) just to try to keep the heads cleared out. it'll use more ink, and that tends to be one of the most expensive things to replace on a printer... as I understand it the demo ink that comes with the printer is usually 1/2 or less full in the cartridge and the price of a full set of ink can often exceed the cost of a new printer.

and all of these are why I switched out to a laser printer. although those have their own challenges.
@stound Thanks, I'll try that!
@stound I used it again today and it was fast so you're right about needing to do stuff after sitting, thanks :)
@FairyGirlGemma if you do the occasional print to keep it clean, make sure you use an image that has all colors
