I have a lot of thoughts about various things going on in the world right now. But too many things have become impossible to talk about in public with any nuance. One opinion about part of a larger issue will instantly pigeon-hole you as right or left wing, pro this whole set of causes or anti that one. Some things I would like to say would probably hurt people I care about and whose side I am actually on -- not just hurt them emotionally, but give ammunition to their enemies. All this gives me greater appreciation for all the trivial nonsense that gets posted on here -- what else can you do when any serious post will blow up in everyone's face?

Anyhow, like I said, if you would actually like to talk about anything that's going on in the world in a real conversation kind of way, message me. I'm not going to try to do it here!
