Can you easily strike up a conversation in person with a stranger?

Yes as long as there's an easy way to begin like an incident we've both seen and been surprised at or an accidental touch as one of us sits down and an apology is called for. Once my mouth is opened I can easily begin conversation when traveling on public transport or waiting in a queue (line). Obviously it takes two or more to have a conversation, but if the other party reciprocates, I'll keep going.
