Meaningful conversations are healthy.

But what is a meaningful conversation before you?

Meaningful conversation to me is personal not philosophical at this point. As I've aged I've realized that most people aren't open minded.

@Turtlepower and what about when you apply philosophies in personal life when making a conversation?
Turtlepower · 36-40, M
@Fertilization Can you give an example? Our philosophies or beliefs are ingrained in what we do or how we act/re-act to situations, but to me the meaningful conversation would be more based on the experiences rather than the philosophies behind them.

@Turtlepower I assume philosophies and beliefs take the same meaning in your sentence. The act of philosophizing, however, is, at its core, the act of using reason and not jumping to rash conclusions. To truly philosophize is to make good sense of reality. Without reflecting, how can we understand and learn from our experiences? How can we relate them to others in the most meaningful way?

@cosas By definition and in theory I agree with you. However, I've lived long enough to realize that most people don't want to engage in truly open minded, philosophical discussion and frankly I'm done trying.

I won't get more into this but your statement below is misused by people who want to give the impression they're open minded and do 'research'.

@Turtlepower One can misuse anything, if one insists. We need a different sort of academician, otherwise our future will keep morphing into our past. That's why I prefer not to lose hope, despite the darkness that is presented to us as "free" choice.
