I understand and that's why I said it was probably an unpopular view. But I cant imagine waking up one morning after driving with a couple beers in my system and find out I had just messed up someone's life. I have driven after having had a couple of beers in my younger years and I realize now how stupid and how lucky I was. I'm also sure that most of the people claiming to be the lord of the virtues have at one time or another done the same.
I'm also not talking about habitual drunk drivers. That I find it hard to feel sympathy for. I think it's a tragedy all around. But I definitely understand that the responsibility falls squarely on the one who decided to get behind the wheel of a car and drive.
I bet that.

@TheHammer Hmm maybe I’m just confused again but I don’t think it’s possible to have only a few beers and not realize that you’ve been in a drunk driving car accident that resulted in messing up someone’s life ?? I apologize for not being able to understand what you’re saying here.
I also believe that whether it’s only done once or multiple times drunk driving is still a selfish decision and an inexcusable act of irresponsibility. As far as only having “a couple of beers” (which is the most common answer given to police officers when someone is pulled over for suspected drunk driving) it’s really “buzzed driving” and while still not legal, it’s not as likely to produce the same kind of results as driving drunk after drinking hard alcohol for the better part of 8-12 hours. The legal level of 0.08 blood alcohol means that most people can still legally drive with a beer or two in their system although there is no uniform standard of driving ability for the safety of any given driver. Some people may retain the ability to drive safely above 0.08 and others may not be able to drive safely at 0.02 etc.
