Logic Binary?

Does electricity choosing the right path in logic chips in AND , OR , xOR, ETC gates mean that electricity is a form of intelligence albeit very low intelligence ??

Nope. Below is a tic-tac-toe playing computer made of wooden Tinker Toys (designed by Danny Hillis of Connection Machine fame). It is powered by turning a crank; a job that can be done by weights or springs or rubber bands. That does not impart intelligence to the weights or springs or rubber bands. The "intelligence" of the machine is in the overall design, not the turning of the crank.

@ElwoodBlues This is so cool, but a more conventional computer is involved, yes? The inventor's description say "The game tree was generated by a LISP program running on a PDP-10".

@ServantOfTheGoddess A LISP program designed the logic gates, but I'm pretty sure the Tinker Toy Logic (TTL🤣) runs entirely stand-alone on crank power.

I'm just guessing here, but I suspect the LISP program was in large part a simulation. Maybe also translated from the space of 9-state logic to patterns of hubs and rods. That line "It could have been built by any six-year old with 500 boxes of tinker toys and a PDP-10" is confusing to me, but I think it means the PDP-10 produced some form of assembly instructions.

I believe Hillis designed another mechanical digital computer for "The Clock of the Long Now." I believe it will accurately display positions of planets for the next 10,000 years, and it does it in digital not analog.

@ElwoodBlues amazing stuff!
