Yes, but not purely because of their physical appearance.
I’ll remember this all my life:
When I first met the man I would eventually date and marry, I used to see him from my office window. I already thought he was very handsome, physically.
But one day I was watching and he was across the street, had just gotten off the streetcar. Some kids were running and they bumped into a little old man, knocking him off his feet; he was sitting on the sidewalk. The kids didn’t even look back, and people were stepping over the man.
My friend rushed over to him, helped him up very carefully and walked him over to a bench. They spoke for a bit. There was a coffee and donut kiosk nearby, my friend went over and bought two coffees, took one to the man, smiled and went on his way. The elderly man was also smiling.
I think I began falling in love with him from that point. 🥹
