@jshm2 There's a lot to be said for that. We have ideological religions these days; democracy, communism, capitalism, and colonialism. None of them give hope. Or more to the point, they can be torn down easily.

@jshm2 I never said they could be torn down. But I'm just saying that ideologies are essentially the same as religions in every way except for infallibility. Having said that, MAGAism could be considered a religion now as Trump is considered infallible.

I like this and it is my first time reading it.

Skills matter but it is mostly luck that enables people to access opportunities and experiences others can't.

I have been lucky.

There are of course exceptions. Humans do choose comfort and sometimes familiar suffering is more comfortable. And they coerce others to experience the same. The victims can be oppressors themselves. It is not just those in power. It is everyone falling short.

Definitely not untrue. I have met many a person down on their luck who show their merit and qualities. Sometimes I find their qualities as a person more immediately.

I know this can't be done in law, but the real crime against humanity is we let poverty exist and turn so many blind eyes.
