Housing, food, health care and education are basic human rights and thus should be free.

But they can not be. If everything is free there is no motive to work and if nobody works then nobody is growing the food or providing medical care.
Luke73 · 26-30, M
@justbob That's not right actually, for example there are many people who do voluntary work for free.
justbob · 61-69, M
@Luke73 Not enough to make a functioning economy.

In the very early days of the Pilgrim's settlements hey had communal gardens. Anybody could help themselves to produce. Working was optional.

The working is optional part ended in less than a year for reasons not hard to imagine.
Luke73 · 26-30, M
@justbob I think there are also studies that support an uncoditional basic income as far as I know.

Your delusional
Your talking about socialism
Which doesn't work
Luke73 · 26-30, M
@pdockal It seems to be that you're implying that capitalism and the current system we have works. But it doesn't, the rich people will only get richer and the poor people only get more poor. So in the end you'd have two "classes" of people, the rich and the poor. And you're calling that a working system?
pdockal · 56-60, M
@Luke73

This system allows people to pull themselves up
Your system doesn't
Greed also plays a part in any system

My system should be flat tax
My system would consist of workfare not welfare
My system would consist of better education where of you don't work you don't graduate etc
Luke73 · 26-30, M
@pdockal That's wrong actually, it becomes more and more difficult to work yourself up. It already is. How can you get a higher education when you can't have money for school?

And who should pay for the education? And what about the people who can't work?
pdockal · 56-60, M
@Luke73

You just want free stuff and don't want to work for anything
Luke73 · 26-30, M
@pdockal I never said I don't want to work. Or when did I say that?
pdockal · 56-60, M
@Luke73

Your preaching that you want everything free which means you don't want to work
Luke73 · 26-30, M
@pdockal People still can work more to get more too. All I want is that everyone has their own basic human rights taken care off regardless of their situation. Sure, if you want to have a specific nice car, I don't see why you shouldn't deserve it if you work more.
pdockal · 56-60, M
@Luke73

Yes you advocate so people don't need to work
Yes you want your shit free
Show me one society where socialism works
Luke73 · 26-30, M
@pdockal Wouldn't you want a society where no one has to work? And for example the idea of an unconditial basic income has been proven through studies.
pdockal · 56-60, M
@Luke73

If nobody worked then nothing would get done
You wouldn't eat
You wouldn't get cloths
You wouldn't have internet

If people get enough to live on for free they won't ever work
If those that worked see this they world stop working

Go back under your rock
Luke73 · 26-30, M
@pdockal That just wasn't my question. I asked if you wanted to live in a society where no one has to work? With technological process more and more can be automated. Work now looks very different than 50 years ago, or even 20 years ago.

And that's not right, people do a lot of work for free volunteering for example.
