Trump said Americans want a dictator because they value safety over freedom

Trump is a piece of 💩 but on this one I agree. Maga is glad to murder immigrants for the appearance of safety even if it's built on a lie so he is right technically. That's why fear is a good motivator. What people don't seem to realize is that there's tradeoffs between more safety and more freedom. More safety means more authoritarianism as cameras, surveillance, profiling, using the army against civilians all come with the aspect of false sense of safety.

So in essence yes maga and fence sitters both want a dictatorship.

Dictators will tend to arise when law and order begin to collapse. Trump would make a good benign dictator but he's only got a few years to live. Then you'd get a Kim Jong Un style dictator.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@HobNoblin Red states have the highest crime but I don't see him instituting law and order over there. There also is no such thing as a benign dictator as there's always victims.
HobNoblin · 36-40, M
@SatanBurger There are no riots or communist revolutionaries in red states. Trump knows what he's doing.

@SatanBurger Old Soviet publications couldn't do better than this. Why would you swallow this swill anyway? It's bad for your brain.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@HobNoblin If it's bad for my brain to swallow statistics on red states being more violent even if blue cities didn't exist then it's bad for your brain to equally hyper focus on blue cities having crime.

I think you're deflecting to be honest.
HobNoblin · 36-40, M
@SatanBurger You're swallowing propaganda. Crime happens in places soft on crime.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@HobNoblin Red states must be soft on crime then to have the highest murder rates. Glad we agree on something.
HobNoblin · 36-40, M
@SatanBurger Red states have blue counties and blue cities. There you have crime.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@HobNoblin Nope.

https://www.thirdway.org/report/the-21st-century-red-state-murder-crisis

The excuse that sky high red state murder rates are because of their blue cities is without merit. Even after removing the county with the largest city from red states, and not from blue states, red state murder rates were still 20% higher in 2021 and 16% higher in 2022.
HobNoblin · 36-40, M
@SatanBurger And in DC? The murder rate there has dropped sharply. Remove the mentality that exists in places like that and you remove crime.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@HobNoblin actually the crime rate was dropping before Trump and the national guard. That was all over the news as well, there was no point.
HobNoblin · 36-40, M
@SatanBurger It was pretty high, you sure couldn't just walk down the street. LA is another example. People leaving the trunk of their car open so thieves won't break it open. The police do nothing. LA needs the national guard too.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/ariannajohnson/2023/04/28/red-states-have-higher-gun-death-rates-than-blue-states-heres-why/

Data suggests New York saw significant drops in homicides between 2021 and 2022, while Florida saw significant increases.

According to Third Way, some Republicans argue crime rates in their states are only high because of the blue cities within them. But murder rates have increased in rural, urban and suburban locales

Contrary to popular belief, the South is the geographical region with the highest gun-related crime rates, and these states largely have been Republican-run for years.

Fifteen of the 20 states with the highest firearm mortality rates are led by Republicans. However, Republican lawmakers have historically used gun-related crime rates against Democrats

Speaking about Washington, D.C., homicide rates, Trump said it's "41 per 100,000. No.1 that we can find anywhere in the world."

Trump stretched an outdated homicide rate into an inaccurate blanket statement.

Trump appeared to be referring to a chart that showed the district's 2023 homicide rate, which was 39.4 per 100,000 people. In 2024, the homicide rate dropped to 27.3 per 100,000 people. The city's Metropolitan Police Department has reported that homicide rates continue to decrease in 2025.

A list of 2023 homicide rates in cities around the world has Washington, D.C., listed below 49 other cities, three of them capital cities.

We rate Trump's statement false

The chart Trump displayed was first shared Aug. 6 on Fox News' "The Will Cain Show." Trump didn't mention that the data in it is from 2023. Since then, the district's homicide rate has fallen considerably. The rate was not the worst in the world — then or now.

In 2023, at least 49 other cities in the world had higher homicide rates.

Crime data analyst Jeff Asher said it isn't useful to compare international cities with populations in the millions to Washington, D.C., a city of about 700,000 people. "A comparison to other large U.S. cities would be more appropriate in my opinion," Asher said.

@HobNoblin Protecting civil liberties is communism lol you cons are funny.
HobNoblin · 36-40, M
@SatanBurger I'm not as conservative as you probably think. Of course to you I'm Heinrich Himmler and there's an entire SS division under your bed, you can hear them crawling around under there. Actually you're basic ideas seem right to me. Civil liberties, health care abortion rights. But somehow it all went wrong. Instead of applying these things to ordinary individuals, somehow it came to supporting the very worst first and foremost. MS 13, shop lifters, burglars, rape gangs, pedophiles. Oddest of all Muslims who actually are far right and utterly despise you. You're cities are full of the camps of drug addicts, shit and needles are everywhere. To support your policies you turn to government regulation more and more until there are so many rules people can't even build a house. You can't start a business or it fails due to economic conditions. You don't believe in property rights you think everything should be collectively owned. There is less and less reason to live in a society like that. Small wonder drug use soars. Everything Solzhenitsyn wrote about is wrong with the places you create. Not that you'll ever consider this because your ideology allows on dissent. It is considered perfect or as close as you can get. You'll defend it even as some illegal lights you on fire on a subway car.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@HobNoblin Honestly? Anyone who thinks protecting civil liberties is communism without a nuance view and a black white kind of thing going on, is an uber con.
HobNoblin · 36-40, M
@SatanBurger Protecting civil liberties isn't communism it's your general ideology that's Marxist.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@HobNoblin One, heterosexual people exist two, gay people exist. What you are saying is that conservatives should be allowed to take away gay marriage at you hinted above because it's communism to fight for gay rights.

You said:

on their page and trying to protect gay "marriage". A communist think tank more or less

Then say that gay marriage is an ideology and oh you're not as conservative as I think but you sure are touting the hard party line of "gay people having rights is communism" and that "it's my ideology that is communism."

But since gay people will always exist and you conservatives try to take away their rights, you're saying that fighting for civil liberties for all is communism

Lol.
HobNoblin · 36-40, M
@SatanBurger Hearing the Nazis under your bed again? Well, I'm hear to tell you that oppressor / oppressed is neo Marxist speak for the workers vs the factory owners. It's the same misguided ideology. As to homosexuals I support searching for means of treatment and prevention. If we find that then this defect can be wiped off the face of the earth forever. Right now nothing is being done because commies want to use them as a political weapon. Sad.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@HobNoblin
As to homosexuals I support searching for means of treatment and prevention

That's just your own bias thinking that gay people aren't as natural as heterosexual people and basically anything you don't understand that others support is communism to you.
HobNoblin · 36-40, M
@SatanBurger I suppose in a round about way you could say that a crooked spine or missing limb is "natural". That being that it happens in nature. It is, however not normal to the healthy functioning of the creature that has it. It is a defect. Did you know I have bias against other things as well? Because I do. Last month one of the tires on my truck was going flat. I could have been more tolerant but I took the tire to a tire shop and they put a rubber patch on the inside. They ground it rough, used glue on it, stuck that patch on They used a little steel roller wheel to stick it to the glue. That will keep it from every falling off in the life of that tire. I could have just let the tire go flat but I just felt to disgusted at it's self expression. Fascist tier disgust. I put it back on the truck and drove around on it too.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@HobNoblin except we're talking about people and not inanimate objects like a truck. Sex serves other functions than just having babies, this is an evolutionarily correct statement to make.
HobNoblin · 36-40, M
@SatanBurger Sex only serves the porpoise of reproduction. People using it like a drug does nothing.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@HobNoblin No it doesn't and if people only had sex for the purpose of children with nothing else, they'd be in sexless marriages, divorced, abuse their children as they don't have them because they want them.. they have them due to a sense of duty without realizing the consequences or they end up lonely.

That is also like saying that you shouldn't have sex when you get older or menopause and that when you reach an age you should stop.

Sex has multiple benefits outside of just having kids, if you're using the naturalistic fallacy argument, this doesn't work. If it was only for children, it would have only negative consequences.

Emotional connection

Sexual intimacy plays a critical role in bonding and strengthening emotional connections between partners. This is supported by the release of specific hormones during and after sex.

Oxytocin release: Often called the "cuddle hormone," oxytocin is released during sexual activity and orgasm. This hormone promotes feelings of attachment, trust, and love, which helps to deepen emotional closeness and relationship satisfaction.

Pair-bonding: Frequent sexual activity can create a powerful pair-bond that increases the likelihood of a couple staying together to raise offspring. This evolutionary adaptation supports more stable family units.

Physical and mental health benefits

A healthy and active sex life is associated with a variety of physical and mental health advantages.

Stress reduction: Sexual activity helps lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol. The release of endorphins also contributes to a calmer, more relaxed mood.

Improved cardiovascular health: Regular sex increases your heart rate and is a form of exercise. Studies have linked an active sex life to a lower risk of cardiovascular disease.

Better sleep: After orgasm, the body releases the hormone prolactin, which contributes to feelings of relaxation and drowsiness.

Stronger immune system: Research shows that people who have sex frequently have higher levels of immunoglobulin A (IgA), an antibody that helps fight off illness.

Pain relief: Endorphins released during sex act as natural painkillers, which can provide relief from conditions like migraines and cramps.

Improved mental health: The mood-boosting effects of sex are linked to increased self-esteem, reduced anxiety and depression, and higher overall happiness.

Broader definition of human sexuality

The idea that sex is only for reproduction is often rooted in narrow, traditional perspectives. A broader understanding of human sexuality reveals its complexity.

Diversity of sexual expression: People engage in a wide variety of sexual activities, including non-penetrative sex, masturbation, and oral sex, none of which are inherently for reproduction.

Sexual orientation and identity: The existence of different sexual orientations, such as asexuality and homosexuality, demonstrates that procreation is not the universal goal of sexual activity.
