I Enjoy Helping Others

One day i hope to start a charity of some sort - monetary or guidance. It will most likely involve disadvantaged children of some kind. I believe in helping them because they have the most potential and it will go a long way. To contrast this idea, I actually dont give money to the homeless often. I think most of them will die soon and the "help" will be wasted on them. In order to truly help these people, too much work will need to be put in.

I agree that taking care of the dying must be very depressing, but doing it must be a choice. Whrn my dad was near death, he was of course on the terminal ward. I overheard a nurse say thast she didn't care if someone needed attention. They're all just going to die anyhow. Why try making them comfortable while they wait? I spoke to my dads doctor who spoke to head of nursing. She was transfered off that ward. I think she should have been banned from nursing. People shouldn't go into health care if they only want to help the healthy.

I admire you for wanting to help. Also it is nice to know that you recognize your limitations.

Funny you should bring it up. I've been around palliative care facilities through my work and what i've noticed is that the workers in these facilities generally hate their job as opposed to care givers of people who work with the more temporararily ill. I think it is because their work doesnt feel as fulfilling to merely delay people who are close to the end. Some background info, I live in Canada. Besides that, I just think helping children who have a stake in the world's future would be a better use of my time

The "homeless" are a special case. Any money given may likely not be used to alleviate their situation but rather to buy a drink or some other short-term gratification.
However, some charities that work with them to address underlying problems have a high degree of success.

Yikes. It is very nice that you want to help needy children, but to think that helping people who might die soon, would be wasted, seems harsh. I hope that caregivers in palliative care facilities never get this attitude.
