Is it legit to offer non-financial help for a single mother?

Her ex wants her to move out, while she claims exclusive right of access for her kid and tries to move as close to her kid's school as possible, otherwise buying a car of her own. We as her co-workers all do our best to give her tips and also time to take care of all her business, but it seems like she'd have to work hard to afford a car before she'd receive financial support by her ex. I would be able to support her short-term, but I wouldn't know if I'd ever get the money back, nor would I support her by leasing a car since she had an accident on her way to work because she was distracted by her phone (which she was as well while driving me home). Should I instead encourage her to ask others for money to achieve her way out of her ex's home?

If I were you, I'd stay well clear of her. If you lend her any money, treat it as an unconditional gift to her, she will.
