I Enjoy Helping Others

David is one of the most wonderful people I ever met.

I have very bad knees which require a walker. I live on the fourth floor, and now with the virus on the loose, residents need to wear masks in all public areas, including the lobby, laundry rooms, and the elevators. I had no way to get out and GET any.

David lives on the third floor. He not only went out and got me a pair, but got me a gallon milk for my cereal, juice, and bread.

This isn't the only thing David does. He gets rid of my trash and recyclables for me. When my groceries are delivered, he brings them directly upstairs for me. He brings my newspapers up to me from the lobby. Needless to say, I am now quite spoiled over this treatment and feel a little guilty, too.

I saw David in the hall just this morning. He stopped to say "good morning" and pick up three pieces of mail I had EMailed a request to take. Once more, I half-apologized for all the requests for help.

David smiled under the mask and replied, "That's okay. I LIKE to help others."

That may be so, but he STILL has one spoiled neighbor just overhead!
You're fortunate to have David as a neighbor and a friend.

@PhoenixPhail Don't I KNOW it! Just this past weekend, despite the busy hours he had to put in his own personal life, he helped me take up my groceries and stayed to set up the twin window fan (in and out) I had just bought from Home Depot, complete to the power strip. Although I checked in the mail room daily, it was David who personally delivered both pieces to my door.
@MaryJanine I love guys like that. He helps restore my faith in humanity. And these days, it needs a lot of restoring.

@PhoenixPhail I'm sorry your faith in humanity is so bruised and broken in your life. When my family put me in here, it was like goodbye-and-good-luck. Management brought David to me when I had trouble taking the trash out, and he has been extra helpful from Day One. If he knows I have something planned that is extra special (like that business with the fan) that isn't finished, he will take over and complete it.
He's a godsend. May he be blessed and remain healthy. It reassured me so much to know, that my dear sisterheart is so well cared for. :*

@RobinPhoenix He ist wundervoll, kleiner Bruder. I can't say it enough. Yesterday, I went to the mail room/lobby to check on whatever the delivery man left. Then, I checked in the hall closet (packages und usually my newspaper during the week wind up there). I always check to see if David has anything, too. He didn't, but there was a gut-sized box fuer me, which I couldn't manage on the walker und get it back upstairs. I replaced it in the closet und left it. I returned upstairs, EMailed David und explained the situation. His reply was, "I will check it when I get back."

He brought it up when he returned from work two hours later.

I can set mein clock by him.
