I Like Helping People Less Fortunate

Except for when they curse me out, because they don't want the food, they want money to go get drugs. 馃槙

Wiltingrose- i went travelling to Bangladesh in December. was eye opening for me. Met alot of street kids an people. Poverty on a scale most could not imagine. Homeless in UK, u cant compare the situation as like apples an oranges. I gave some money 2 a kid begging. It was pst midnight. Kid was about 4. they took money an i saw spit it with 2 other kids. They look after one another. Younger kids more successful begging as they look cute. How they thought to share what they had really hit me. Humbling. In Bangladeshi culture if someone dies you give food to poor on their behalf. I went back as auntie passed away. People knew we would have food 2 give away. From about 6 in morning there were beggers waiting for food. They waited 6 odd hours for it to arrive. One meal. I never had 2 think about not having enough 2 eat in my life. Never truly been hungry. I been broke but not like that. In UK there are ways an means of helping yourself. In alot of places there is nothing. I'd rather send money to Bangladesh for something meaningful then spend it on someone hurting themselves. When I went back some kids came an thanked me. I said what for. Some money I'd sent over the years had paid for their education. Also I brought a sewing machine for a lady who lost her husband an got her sowing lessons at a school so she had an income as had quite a few kids. I'd rather use that money on feeding someone or spending it to help someone in there life than just get wasted.
