Interesting Evolution

There was a time when I was younger, that I liked helping those who were less fortunate, because it looked good on a record/resume and that it got others to approve of my kindness and generosity.

Turns out - that’s not the best reason to help others. Over time, I’ve learned that the benefit of helping others is that they help me. I’ve always maintained that it is very important for everyone to maintain dignity and respect no matter what. Those who are less fortunate teach us great humility when they honor us by allowing us to help them.

It’s hard to explain this without sounding like an egotistical ass - but working with the less fortunate has made me less of an egotistical ass. Maybe now it’s just an ass :)

So true. It feels really good to help other people, so we need to be humble and let others help us too. Its hollow just doing things for yourself.😐

Yes. But it comes about accidentally before it works intentionally. What do you think?

Do you believe altruism is real?
