My great, great, great however many back grandmother was one of the four women hung for being a witch in the Salem Witch Trials.

@Musicman No kidding? I'm supposedly a direct descendant of Grace Sherwood. She was tossed out of a boat with her hands and feet tied together. She survived, so they fished her out and threw her in jail. The story goes she told the men on the boat she wasn't the only one who would be getting wet that day, a storm blew up before they could get back to shore. If I remember correctly, she was the last witch to be tried by water in the US.

@robb65 Very serious. Her house has been restored and is open for tourist.

If my mom is correct, Grace would have been my Great grandmother's grandmother, or possibly her great grandmother. https://virginiahistory.org/learn/grace-sherwood-witch-pungo
