I Am Fascinated By Human Behavior

Sciguy Had A Great Fall...

I was running errands for my parents this past Sunday as I do every weekend. One of the stops was the pharmacy.

I won't mention the name, but it is a chain pharmacy with the initials CVS...

As I was about to enter, two guys were exiting. I moved over to enter on the other side of the door opening.

Unbeknownst to me, some of the snow that fell days before had melted and refrozen - forming the dreaded black ice.

In an instant, I was flat on my back...

(Note: This is not me in the photo, but more or less depicts the result)

It literally took me several seconds to assess what had happened. It then took another several seconds to assess whether or not I was seriously injured.

The two guys who left the store must have heard me yell as I fell (I do recall letting out an audible "Whoa!) or must have heard the "thud" as I hit the ground.

They both came over to render assistance. The fall had sent my keys flying, which one of the guys picked up and returned.

Once I realized I hadn't cracked open my skull or broken a hip, I accepted their offer to assist me to my feet.

While such behavior might be expected in rural areas, it is somehow less expected in more urban areas.

The point of the post (yes, there is one) is that there are still some people out there who care about their fellow human beings.

As a post script, my neck, lower back, left shoulder and left pectoral muscle are still quite sore, but on the mend.

To add insult to injury, however, I am now in the midst of a cold...

Applies lots and lots and lots of plasters....and kisses each bit better first.

@pennynoodles Luckily, I didn't need any bandages (or plasters). I appreciate the sentiment though.

You didn't? How about some 'there, there' cream?@sciguy18
sciguy18 · M
@pennynoodles Is that like Devonshire clotted cream?

Well..... I don't think so. It is the imaginary cream that a nurse once gave to my adult son when he went to see her on set with a cold. @sciguy18
