why is there so much fake news and nonsense on youtube now

everytime i watch a video that interests me now, i see in the sidebar lots of 'suspect' videos with outlandish stories, far fetched titles, i know it's complete nonsense and fake news....it was never like that when youtube first launched in 2005, why is it like that now?
