I hear you. I'm a quiet person and don't talk much. I remember a couple times I was called out for not being talkative. I always thought I was weird or there was something wrong with me. I've experienced social anxiety my whole life because of this.
Small talk is so boring to me. When it happens, I feel like sticking knives in my eyes for funsies. 😅
I much prefer to have an intense intellectual conversation about something that fascinates me.
There is nothing "fake", really, about people in public spaces speaking to those who are sharing it with them. Most times, it's just acknowledging them as a fellow human.
Well I like small talk, it often leads to bigger conversations and is polite and social grease. How would you start every conversation with every stranger, with some deep probing question? That would be creepy.
@FormerAtheist every stranger one chooses to talk to, it’s really not that hard to understand. In my country people talk to one another all the time, it’s part of our culture to be friendly, smile and say hello and start random conversations on the street. It’s good manners if someone greets you to greet back. Sure some people prefer to be quiet I do too at times but good manners and social etiquette never go out of style.
@BeefySenpie Why should I do that though? If I'm just not interested in something, I can't pretend to like it just for the sake of engaging in a pointless conversation. That just doesn't work.
@MaBalzEsHari I actually agree with the person. I'm horrible at small talk. Talk about aliens weird shit I'm all about it lol idk different from person to person
@jshm2Some humans are social "animals". Many are not. You see, the reason for this is that we're not all the same, we're not like bees or ants. Some of us actually enjoy being alone, and some of us recognise the fact that many if not most people are just stark, raving mad, and should be avoided in any case. Just look at the world around you. It's filled with violence, decadence and insanity! I don't want to be a part of that.
