why are there so many bots, dubious profiles & spam online now

i mean on this site and youtube now too, just viewing my feed on SW and there is quite a bit of spam, dubious fake profiles which look like bots....why can't they be gotten rid of? they are a real nuisance and unwanted... wouldn't be surprised if some of the fake profiles were artificial intelligence or AI.
