I Hate Fake People
It seems like a lot of people are on this experience to blow the whistle on EP profiles they believe are fake. I've noticed this happening a lot lately, and it's gotten me to question...why do you care?
I mean, EP isn't just about sharing things we've actually done, it's about sharing who we identify ourselves to be. I've encountered several profiles on here that I believe to be fake, but I certainly haven't gone out and publicly blown the whistle on them. For one: what if I'm wrong? I could potentially be exposing an innocent person to bullying and ridicule, and could permanently damage their reputation. For another...EP isn't a dating site. This isn't the place you go to in order to find real-life companionship. You're almost certainly never going to meet your EP friends in real life. So ultimately, does it make a difference if they are the same person in real life that they claim to be on here? The person they claim to be on here is the only version of them you're ever going to know.
Those people I believe to have fake profiles? I'm okay with that. I know I'm in the minority, but I honestly enjoy playing along with them; pretending I buy that they are who they are. As long as they aren't hurting anyone, or trying to take advantage of them, or manipulating their affections in some way, I think we should leave them alone. Think about it this way: can you honestly say that you're 100% honest about the kind of person you are? I don't believe any of us are. Not on EP, or in the real world
