I totally agree with you! I'm from a five generation Marine Corp and Navy family.

Growing up on our refrigerator we had this posted: "You want to have a good day? Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome!"

Then, some few years later when I was around 8 years old one of my older sisters replaced it with a colorful picture she drew with artist pencils with rainbows, kids dancing, etc. with the comment:

"You want to have a good day? Be Loving even to folks who don't deserve it; Learn to Change you first; Find a fear and face it, then love it, and then let it float away!"

Geez, to my great surprise my parents and grandparents loved it!

From that day on we sorta became the Aquarian Age version of a Marine Corp family!

Wow thank you for sharing this. In my early mindset of military life it was not good because of the dysfunction in my family but I've come to understand how my father withstood the emotional pain from 2 major wars and overcoming the his own fears with his own prayers and beliefs.

@Justpeaceandlove: You're welcome. So much of this life is what we learn about ourselves from taking the path of forgiveness and compassion. It's not an easy thing to do....considering the divided, argumentative, defensive creatures we are. How wonderful it is to learn that we can break from these qualities and walk another path.
