When you have to listen to a person because that person has more experience than you?

Experience is always personal (and therefore limited, no matter how much of it a person has,) unless they're a lifelong professional in the relevant field.

I listen to others out of respect and interest, or sometimes just politeness.

Whether we agree with them or not is another matter.

We are usually free to decide based on our own values, knowledge and thinking; it's what makes us responsible for ourselves and our actions.
