I had heard stories about it before... particularly relating to the stolen coin. I guess I'm more alert for that sort of thing since my own collection was stolen.
I hadn't seen the buildings concerned prior to the video, though.
I know that it's not uncommon for the Mint to not strike coins when they have "enough" in circulation - I have a couple of gaps in my 20p collection over recent years, where I know that no coins were minted.
The thought that struck me deepest was that I have an Australian penny from 1933... that is the oldest coin in my collection.
