I was stationed in West Germany when the wall came down. Went to it with both German friends and Army buddies. Even took a few swings with a sledgehammer and was there when Chernobyl blew. Was in full battle rattle not knowing what to expect. Wasn't until many years later looked up the fallout path and discovered I was in it. Guess that's about the most interesting things I can say.

@MrPerditus1 You have certainly experienced some major world events! Wow! Are you still healthy after Chernobyl? Such a horrific accident.
MrPerditus1 · 61-69, M
@MeowsoliniReturns Funny thing is, never looked at them as historic events until about 20 years ago. LOL I'm slow. :D As for Chernobyl? No extra fingers or toes, the health issues I do have are directly linked to another incident while in the Army that gave me TBI.

I'd wish we'd have known more about what was going on, but we weren't in any of the need to know groups. Just put on alert and standby. Don't think we could have helped much, but still.

@MrPerditus1 Just want to clarify, just in case, after rereading my initial post...I was in West Germany when the accident happened in Chernobyl, I was not at Chernobyl. I was stationed in Ansbach Germany, just over 800 miles or over 1300 km away. The wind path brought fallout over the area for all that time, but we were never informed. We were on standby and placed on alert incase they needed help or something else might have happened. Very paranoid time period in that area.

@MrPerditus1 i thought that was what you meant.

@Yulianna Thank you, just want to make sure it isn't misread. :)
