Do you believe we're coming out of the epidemic or is the worst yet to come?

Today Mike Pence said: “I truly do believe that if we all continue to do that kind of social distancing and other guidance broadly from federal and state officials, that we’re going to put this coronavirus in the past. I believe by early June we’re going to see our nation largely past this epidemic."

But leading infectious disease expert Michael Osterholm said two days ago we're only in the second inning of a nine-inning contest, with the possibility of as many as 800,000 deaths or more in the US over the next 18 months.

Who do you believe? Who can you believe?

These things do have a habit of getting a 'second wind' or mutating at a later date
@Quizzical Happened in a big way in 1918-1919.

@flipper1966 I think there was a lot less understanding of the nature of viruses back then though. We certainly have a fighting chance of having less deaths if we're all sensible.
@Quizzical True. Also the war created special circumstances.

@flipper1966 Absolutely, a very good point!

@Quizzical I think we’re being presented with a “best case scenario” by Pence and a “worst case scenario” by Osterholm.
We really need to see how it plays out....and I don’t believe either of them knows for sure what will happen.
@DragonFruit True. Nobody knows. Even the experts and "the experts."

@DragonFruit I don't think ANYONE realy knows what's going on... hell, we don't even know accurate figures on infection levels and therefore on mortality rates either 🤷‍♂️
