What comes first, Chicken or egg?

IT comes down to the definition.
Is a chicken egg one that is laid by a chicken (as opposed to one a chicken hatches from?). If it is, then the chicken came first. One would need to assume that evolution happened from (chicken)-1 to chicken between conception and the first chicken laying the egg.
