Did your grandmother have a plastic-covered sofa in her living room?
Years ago, people -- it seemed often people who came from an immigrant background -- would cover their furniture with clear plastic covers. You'd go into a family living room and all the furniture would be covered in plastic. You'd sit down on a sofa or a chair -- and every time you moved an inch the plastic would make a creaking noise. Did your grandmother have plastic covered furniture?

@flipper1966 My grandmother wasn't an immigrant but my grandfather on the other side was. No plastic in their house but we were recently remodeling the old house and found newspapers stuffed in the walls and around the windows where my granny had tried to keep the house warm in the winter.
@traceavery My dad has an old Chevelle that has plastic see through covers on it to this day lol. They are yellowish but my dad is afraid the upholstery will come off with the covers if he removes it.
