If reality is just a simulation, will it ever crash? And then what?

Faust76 · 46-50, M
We wouldn't notice if it crashed, because we're INSIDE the simulation. It would be like falling asleep for the night (Or more like general anesthesia for surgery, but not everybody has experienced that). They'd fix it, maybe, if they could be bothered and re-start the simulation from the point of the crash, or a save-point just before that.

The save-point raises some interesting philosophical questions, like maybe you wouldn't do the thing that crashed the simulation again, or the fix could otherwise alter the simulation and cause it run differently even if it was deterministic. But as far as the surviving you would know, nothing at all happened and it was always like that. If they fix it imperfectly, you get a "glitch in the matrix" though.
