Why do some feel ur being negative when u feel ur trying to help?

My husband is taking his driving test 2moro & I've already been driving for over 10 years. I know some aspects of the tests have changed since I took it but if I suggest an idea my husband things I am being negative to him!

It's like if I say 'the examiner might expect u to over do looking at ur mirrors before u move the car' my husband wud say, stop telling me what to do, stop being negative!

Or if they ask 'how do u check if ur indicators are working' my husband wud say 'put on hazard lights' I said yes that'll work but u can put on each light individually & check that way too, my hubby said I was being negative & disrespectful of his way of learning!

Am I in the wrong?

He may not need help.
If my husband was taking the drive test I wouldn’t think to ask him if he needed because I know he’s capable and doesn’t need my help. We both took it when we younger and have both taken since at least once anyway. The first time we studied together but I knew he had it. He knows how to read the handbook. I also know that if he ever needed help, he would ask.@Spoiledbrat

@Spoiledbrat I get someone may not need help, but to argue I am being negative & to deliberately make sure he fails? Yup he said that to me!
It doesn’t sound to me like you know what his strengths are. @BondGirl84

@Spoiledbrat he's failed twice already & he failed on stuff he knew he shldnt do, stuff he's says i do all the time which i dont, like running a red light or stopping at a green light with no traffic behind him!
He probably feels like you don’t think he’s capable. And even if he fails it that’s okay isn’t it?
I would suggest to let him fail.... @BondGirl84

@Spoiledbrat I know he's capable & I told him so but he knows better than to stop at a green light!
You’re treating him like he’s your child. @BondGirl84
People want to do things on their own. They want to feel in control of their own path or destiny. It’s okay if he fails. It’s not the end of the world. If you also felt that way and had faith in him you would not push. Because you push it shows that you think he’s an idiot or a failure. That’s what he’s getting from you. You don’t think he’s capable and I’m not sure why you married him if you don’t think he’s a capable human being.

@Spoiledbrat I do think he is very capable... on everything... he gives me advice on so many things...
Do you resent that? Sometimes we do need a helping hand but too much and it will begin to feel more like our partner doesn’t trust us or believe in our ability in general. @BondGirl84

@Spoiledbrat I dont resent any advice, I ain't pushing my advice on him, I gave a couple of suggestions & I get shot down, I'm clearly in the wrong here
