Why do some feel ur being negative when u feel ur trying to help?

My husband is taking his driving test 2moro & I've already been driving for over 10 years. I know some aspects of the tests have changed since I took it but if I suggest an idea my husband things I am being negative to him!

It's like if I say 'the examiner might expect u to over do looking at ur mirrors before u move the car' my husband wud say, stop telling me what to do, stop being negative!

Or if they ask 'how do u check if ur indicators are working' my husband wud say 'put on hazard lights' I said yes that'll work but u can put on each light individually & check that way too, my hubby said I was being negative & disrespectful of his way of learning!

Am I in the wrong?

Sometimes, whether its family or friends, the idea of trying to help is met with antagonistic response because they dont want to accept it from us specifically, or in general. It could be pride, or bullheadedness or just frustration that someone knows something more then they do. I wish you well, and trust me....youre NOT alone here!!!! best of luck to him and to you too
